Ruth is an executive and non-executive Director with over 25 years experience in senior corporate and not-for-profit roles. Her area of expertise is corporate ethics and social responsibility, and she regularly advises both Boards and individuals on matters of corporate ethics, organisational culture, and business transformation.
For the past decade, Ruth has been working with The Aspen Institute to deliver their Executive Leadership Seminar in Europe and Africa. Ruth also developed and leads the Aspen UK Rising Leaders Fellowship, a programme that empowers exceptional young people from diverse backgrounds to articulate and harness their values in a professional context and prepare them for future leadership roles.
Ruth grew up in Berlin and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford (St Anne’s, 1990). She also holds a degree in Social Sciences from Humboldt University in Berlin (1995), and a degree in Applied Ethics from the University of Leeds (2018). From 2007 to 2013, Ruth was Group Corporate Responsibility Director at Tesco PLC, formulating company strategy across a wide range of climate change, sustainability, and supply chain issues. She then became CEO of the youth justice charity Just for Kids Law (2016-18). Ruth is currently a non-executive Director (Member of Court) at the University of Edinburgh, a role she previously held at The Open University (2013-2021).
